An Evening on Femicide, inspired by Taraud, Scheldon, Bushland, Knipling, and Hatt
A black stage, and in front, a gigantic mosquito net veil. Sounds buzz through the space. Images flicker in the darkness. In a pale light, a man appears. It’s Elias. The scientist is searching for explanations for a disturbing wave of femicides sweeping the world. Some phenomenon seems to be causing a breakdown in men’s brain barriers between sexual drive and violence. Haunted by guilt and the fear of being caught up in the violence himself, Elias wonders what has happened to humanity. Are there parallels to his experiments with insects? Could certain sound frequencies influence communication through chemical messengers? And thus affect behavior or even determine gender? Elias retreats into his laboratory, which gradually transforms into a world of memories, dreams, and nightmares.
